Remembering Sister Mary Griffiths, CSB
Sunday 15 October 2017, the perfect day to remember Sister Mary Griffiths, CSB. It has been 8 months since Sister Mary died and Our Lady’s Parish, South Wangaratta is so grateful for this wonderful opportunity for us to celebrate a memorial Mass in honour of her. The day started with the celebration of the Eucharist followed by a ‘Tree Planting Liturgy’ in which Father Novelito Lim together with Anthony Holligan, PPC President, Mark Walsh, Our Lady’s Primary School Principal and Sister Gail, a Brigidine Nun planted a Camellia plant to remember Sister Mary and her love of nature. We have also invited the family members of Sister Mary from around the region to witness this memorable event.
Sister Mary spent many years of her life as Pastoral Associate of Our Lady’s Wangaratta. She is always remembered as a lady who treats everyone with dignity, respect and compassion. She loves visiting the parishioners at home, hospital and a constant presence at Our Lady’s Primary School. She is loved by the children because of her sweet smile. Sister Mary has also started many groups in the parish like the Support Group and the Scripture Group.
Sister Mary will always be with us in our minds and hearts. Her contribution will never be forgotten for she became a mother to many. This celebration of her life as a great woman will always be remembered.
